I’m sure many of you have been following events unfolding in Pakistan. if not, I’m sure you are at the very least aware of the recent happenings following the assassination of Mrs. Bhutto last week. This is a very dangerous time for the people of Pakistan. The events that will transpire in the next few days could be very devastating for the people of that country as well as our missionaries. I would like to ask you to be in special prayer for the safety of the two missionary couples we have in Pakistan as well as the Pakistani people. This weekend marks the 50th anniversary of the church started by Charles and Edna Coleman and where they still minister today. I have not heard how the meeting went, but trust God that all went well. The Hersons work alongside the Colemans and are confident this is exactly where God has called them to serve and that He will be their protector. In fact, Bro. Coleman’s words penned to me earlier this year were, “We firmly believe II Thess. 3:3 ”But the Lord is Faithful, who shall establish you, and keep you from evil".
In thinking of and praying for these two missionary couples in the recent days, I have been reminded that there are many others around this globe who live daily in tense situations, some literally laying their lives on the line to take the gospel to the uttermost parts of the earth. The hearts of your BBFI missionaries truly can be seen in their commitment to the Lord to fulfill His call upon their lives, whatever the cost.
May this be a reminder in 2008 to take more serious our responsibility of praying for the men and women and their children we help send to the world.
