Claiming God's Promises
Claiming God's Promises

About twenty years ago a lady named Esperanza (Hope) was saved and baptized in our church.  Immediately she claimed the promise found in Acts 16:31: “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.”  She has held onto the hope that her husband and children would also be saved even though they have never shown any interest in spiritual things. Since her husband, Cecilio Matute, retired a couple of years ago, his diabetes worsened to the point that he recently had his left leg amputated just below the knee. No doubt the fact that some of our members visited him in the hospital left a real impression on him.

For the last two Sundays he has gone to church with his wife! Because he does not yet have a prosthesis for his amputated leg, Esperanza pushes him to church through the streets of our city, a distance of almost one mile. Afterwards, one of the men in the church pushes Mr. Matute back home.  In an email we received today from Lavon and Carolyn Waters, who are filling in for us on Sundays, they wrote: "Something has touched his heart to start coming. Yesterday morning the lady who takes care of him came to help push him, and last night Porfidio (a man in our church) helped push him home. He really seems to appreciate all the love people show him." We ask you to join us in prayer for the salvation of Mr. Matute.   Marvin & Becky Robertson - Spain
