About nine months ago, our boys, Caleb and Benjamin, met a young man from Nigeria named Shadrach. He had come to Singapore to play in the local professional soccer league. After they had talked about soccer for a while, the boys noticed he was wearing a gold chain with a big cross. They asked him if he was a Christian—he said, “Yes” –and invited him to church.
Finally Shadrach showed up at church with a friend from Nigeria a couple of weeks ago. After our service, I had the privilege of talking with Shadrach and found out that when he said he was a “Christian”, it simply meant that he was not a Muslim. It was my great joy to lead Shadrach to a personal relationship with God through faith in Jesus Christ. Please pray for this man—as a professional athlete, he faces many temptations—that he might grow strong in the Lord.
