Maureen was saved in June! She had come to church about five times in the past six years, but she has never really shown any interest. In January, one of the men in the church, John, became very ill and ended up in the hospital. John lives in a rented mobile home, and Maureen is the Park Manager. When his home was checked, mold was growing on the walls and everything was wet—no wonder John was in the hospital.
So, as a church, we decided that we needed to go in and clean up his home while he was in the hospital and make it livable again. That grabbed Maureen’s attention. Churches here are always after what people can do for them. We believe that the church is for the community. So she was surprised at how the church was willing to not only help John, but also pay for whatever he needed.
Maureen came to the Mother/Daughter Tea (Kate Knight was our speaker) with different eyes and a different attitude. She was one of the five ladies we asked you to pray for that asked for a booklet on how to become a Christian. In June she came to hear Trevor Knight preach (we invited her to come because she had enjoyed Kate so much). Trevor gave her a card with a prayer on it to help her understand what she needed to do. The next day Maureen prayed the prayer and was saved!
Now she cannot get enough of the Bible. She reads it everyday whenever she has a few minutes. Dixie has started doing discipleship lessons with her and she is growing wonderfully—all because she saw that we were different. We never know what impact we will have on people with our testimonies—it does prove people are watching! Please pray for Maureen’s husband, Pete. He is having difficulty with her new found faith and interest in reading God’s Word. Pray for his salvation!!!
