We pull up to a neighborhood park, with no real expectations other than we know that there will be someone who needs to hear about Christ. It is a little early for Mexican culture to see many at the park, but in about an hour families will be enjoying the cool night air.
At this moment there are only a handful of young people with their skateboards, BMX bikes and attitudes. It is intimidating in the beginning-we have invaded their space. They flex. The easiest thing is to move away and give them their space, but when you are a missionary you cannot move away-you have a commission, a call, and you must complete the mission.
I decide I have nothing to fear and begin breaking down the barriers. Soon I am surprisingly engaged in an intelligent conversation about the Scriptures, sin and God. One young man brazenly declares that God does not exist and leaves, thinking his friends will follow, but two remain. In the end, one of these young men, in the presence of his friends and in a public setting, bows his head and asks for forgiveness of sins and for Jesus Christ to be his Lord and Savior.
