Victory!
Victory!

Saturday night South Africa beat England to win the Rugby World Cup.  Horns honked, firecrackers went off and there was dancing in the streets till about midnight.  As our faithful streamed into church Sunday morning (only the faithful got out of bed) even we wives who don’t watch Rugby were excited that South Africa had won.  Our song leader, Isaac, wore his green and gold rugby shirt under his church jacket and tie.  The song service started a few minutes late after everyone got it out of their system.  After the preaching as the preschoolers streamed out of their class to join their parents going out the front door, Jermaine was headed my way.  “Teacher, I want…I want…” I leaned close and asked, “Yes, Jermaine, what do you want?”  “Teacher, I want to be saved.”  Joy exploded in my heart!  I gasped and sucked in a deep breath because this wasn’t the time to cry.  This ball was headed straight for the goal posts but we needed a few more minutes before the victory dance.  Angels were waiting to write that name and start the rejoicing.  (Jermaine is the teenager who months ago told a friend when asked if he was saved at camp, “No!  they almost got me but I escaped!”)  We’ve waited a long time for him to see his need of a Savior.
