"As I was sitting there, I realized that the time had come for me to make that decision.” Lyalya, whom I had mentioned in my last prayer letter, had been attending our Sunday services and English Club for several months. She had developed an amazing fluency in English while she lived in the U.S. for nine months as a foreign exchange student. What strikes me as amazing about her is that she had attended churches both in Ukraine and in the U.S, yet had never heard a clear presentation of the Gospel of Jesus until God brought her our way. Lyalya and I were able to develop a friendship over the course of these past months, and her sensitivity to spiritual things led me to believe that she had already accepted Christ as her Savior. I did not want to pressure her about it, but continued to fervently pray for her soul. Lyalya spoke to me about how she had gone home that Sunday evening after the services were finished and felt the conviction to make that final step. Right there in her own bedroom she asked Christ to forgive her of her sins and to be her Lord and Savior!!! We are so thrilled that God has brought Lyalya into our lives. She has a desire to grow, and on the 1st of September, was baptized.
How exciting it is to see young people make the right choice for their souls before it is eternally too late. I feel so convicted about the job that we as Christians are doing for our Savior in bringing others to His name. So many times, I find that an abundance of people, whom we know and are acquainted with in our personal and professional lives, have never EVER had someone explain the love of Jesus to them. If we do not tell them, who will?
