Carlos Gonzalez is 88 years old and is married to Magdalena, age 92. Carlos comes to church nearly every Sunday by bus. One Sunday morning, about a year ago at his bus stop, he met a lady named Leonor who was going to her religious service at a new Brazilian wealth cult that has made astounding inroads in Argentina. At first Leonor resisted Carlos’ testimony and invitation to his church. After several Sundays, Leonor finally became Carlos’ invited guest. Each Sunday morning after that the bus stop testimonies were more productive as Leonor inquired of things she heard during preaching services. Her main surprise was that we made no reference about connecting monetary wealth to eternal life; only belief.
We inaugurated our new baptistry with seven Christians being baptized. The first two baptized were a fine married couple. Then came Leonor, who standing in waist deep water, approached the microphone to testify loud and clear to everyone that she accepted Christ as a result of Carlos’ weekly bus stop testimonies.
