While driving recently we were surprised to see piñatas of the devil being sold on the road side. They were selling for a little over a dollar. We found out later these were for an annual celebration called “The burning of the Devil”. On that day people throw all their unwanted trash like clothes, books and even mattresses into the street. At dusk they burn all the trash, set off firecrackers and burn the piñatas. They believe they are purifying their lives and homes from evil. It is sad that they do not understand that only Jesus Christ can give them a pure heart and cleanse them from evil.
