The day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night….At Bangjak Baptist Church, we have been studying about the End of Times. Our series on Revelation has been very interesting with a multimedia presentation on power point. Well, to add emphasis to the special studies, we actually had a thief in the night come to visit us at our house Friday night March 17th. To make matters worse, our family in preparation for an upcoming marathon had all run 10-15 km that morning, so when we went to sleep we were all in a very deep sleep enjoying the rest that comes after a long tiring day. Saturday morning we awoke at 5:30 am to find all the doors down stairs open, the front gate open and all the keys to the cars, church and house out on the front porch. Our special visitor had been through all the drawers in my office, helped himself to two laptop computers, went through our boy’s room and found their cell phones by their bed. He found three different wallets in which he took the cash leaving the equivalent of [Article].50 behind, and then helping himself to various different electronic items. He left a 16 inch knife behind on the sofa.
A lot of thoughts go through your mind when something like this happens. We were all thinking why didn’t we wake up? Was it someone who knows our house and has been here before? Will he come again? Why did he take some things and leave other things behind? Some things we never will know. But what we all were thankful for is that God was there while the thief walked around our son’s beds protecting them from all harm.
