Home Guard
Home Guard
For many years the Kenyan government has had a program called Home Guards.  This was done with the pastoral people living near the borders with Uganda, Sudan, Ethiopia and Somalia.  The government would choose local people; give them rifles and ammunition to protect themselves from cattle rustlers from these other countries.  For the last several years, many of these Home Guards have become cattle rustlers themselves.  Last month the government has decided to disarm the Home Guard.

The people and the churches living in Center Kwanza of Trans Zoia district have experienced a lot of problems from the Home Guard.  This past week several people were killed and many homes were burnt.  We have eight churches in this area; please pray for God’s protection for the pastors and their family and all the church members.

I was at the Bible Institute of Kapenguria a few days ago; the students from Center Kwanza had not arrived for the classes.  We understand there is a no movement order by the police as they try and disarm the Home Guard.  Please pray for our students that they will be able to return to the Bible Institute for next month’s classes.
