Very recently we had a disturbing incident surrounding the feeling of safety in our home. While Michelle and I were going to be out for a while we had one of our young people doing some work in our home. While we were out, someone had called our home and called the young person by name and convinced them that I had been in a bad accident and Michelle was in the police station in dire need of money. The caller convinced this young person to go into our room and look for any cash or jewelry that might be there and go out and meet them so they could trade it for money to help us in this situation.
Similar situations occur all over the Metro area. The caller told this young person to leave the house open when they left. We are so thankful that at least they didn’t listen to that instruction. No one came into our home but we still felt less safe right after it happened. I changed the locks on our house and I’ll be installing a more secure gate on our carport as well. Pray for Michelle and I that this incident will not distract our trust. We know we are in God’s perfect care and we continue to rest there as we endeavor to faithfully serve Him here.
