Border Unrest…We have traveled in Mexico many years and have been stopped by different agencies of the government, but last Saturday was a NEW experience for us. Due to the crack down on the drug dealers along the border, there has been violence and killing in the cities of Rio Bravo and Reynosa. Miguel Aleman is also a city of much drug activity so the Mexican government has sent their special forces to the border cities to curtail the killing in the streets.
We were waved on at the first and second check points, but down the road at another check point set up with machine guns, we were stopped and ordered out of the car for inspection. I was told to put my hands on the car and was frisked to see if I carried any weapons. This was a first for me and I will have to admit it was a little scary. Pray for your missionaries as we travel in Mexico.
