On a personal note, March is a time of remembrance for us. This month marks the 10th anniversary of our arrival to Kenya, March 23, 1998 to be exact. I married my husband knowing he was going to be in the ministry, but following him to Africa was never in my wildest dreams. After all, “they eat people over there” was the cautious warning I received from my mother. But seriously, the Lord has certainly blessed this family and this ministry these last 10 years, and it has only been the mosquitoes that have attempted to eat us.
As a missionary wife, my main concern is making a home in a foreign land, but the Lord also allowed me to be an influence in the lives of women here on the field. I have had the privilege of training nine lady Sunday School teachers, establishing an organized Ladies’ Fellowship, teaching ladies’ classes in our Bible Institute, and working with the teenage girls of our church. The Lord has also allowed me the privilege of leading several women and children to the Lord. It’s been 10 years, but it feels like it’s only the beginning.
