Winter holidays in Australia are traditionally a time for people to escape to the snow fields or a beach retreat. We did experience a lull in our attendance but everyone was back in time for our missions garage sale. Dwayne came up with the idea earlier in the year for our church people to sacrificially give for a specific missions project we had been praying about in Costa Rica. One of our church members suggested that we also raise some additional funds by having a garage sale. The sale turned out to be a wonderful opportunity for our people to work together and for us to get out into the community once more. We even received donations from business people and neighbors who do not go to our church! After a long day of hard work, we had raised over $1,000 in one day for the building project in Costa Rica! Our people were thrilled with the good outcome and quite encouraged. With the other money they had given, we were able to send a check for $2,000 to this worthy project. It really looks like we are moving up to the next level in our ministry. We now have a small, strong core of faithful believers who really want to reach out to our community and grow in their walk with the Lord.
